“Sheet”

This board was inspired by children’s sheet ghost costumes on halloween and is shaped in the style of the bumrat spectre. The board is reminiscent of punk rock stick and pokes and children’s cartoons, merging the two worlds together. The board is constructed with 7 veneers of canadian maple pressed with wood glue in between every ply and placed inside a vacuum bag on top of a styrofoam mold. The board started as a traditional street deck shape and was then traced to the outline of the spectre and cut with a jigsaw, before being scraped down and sanded to create smooth and rounded edges. The jigsaw is difficult to operate at first, and the round edges can be hard to accurately trim out. Next time I would like to take it a bit slower and be careful with the cutting process. I’m proud to have this piece as another edition to my archive, and another Bumrat classic.
